Decorating for Easter at the Basilica of St. Mary in Minneapolis

This year we were invited to be one of the decorators for the Easter celebration at the Basilica of St. Mary in Minneapolis.  How fun!……And a bit chaotic!  Upon arrival at 8:00 a.m on Saturday. I was quickly introduced to several of the decorating coordinators, given a general ideas of what I was supposed to design, and the base for these designs.  As you can see,my assignment was to design two large wreaths for the Narthex, which would be the first thing people would see as they enter the church with baskets wired to them, filled with green plants and embellished  with two orchid plants.  Whoa!   No pressure there!

Wedding Showcase at the Como Park Conservatory, St. Paul MN

It seems when things are busy, taking the time to post regularly doesn’t happen as it should! Last week we were at the Como Park Conservatory Showcase in St. Paul, MN. It has always been one of my favorite places to hang out, but was even more beautiful as daylight turned to evening and the paths were lit by a soft, subtle glow. So tranquil. We were near Laurie Leigh Harpist so I actually felt like I was being embraced by a piece of heaven.

Despite having to borrow my neighbor’s camera (mine died!) I did manage to get some good photos of our bouquets.  For this event we created viniettes of  different themes, styles and colors.

I will post more pics soon as I have time to do a respectable posting.

This morning I am on my way to my favorite wholesaler to pick up flowers for our next event at  Nicollet Island Pavillion with Mintahoe Catering in Minneapolis MN on Wednesday.

White Bridal Bouquet

This was one of my favorite bouquet of the 2011 season.  With a bit of melancholy I think about the season of weddings and warm weather! Although the March weddings weren’t quite as warm!!  I adore the Holiday season but I am already excitedly anticipating and working on next seasons weddings.

It has been an unseasonably warm fall and winter here in MN, but  snow has fallen for the second time and the cold temps have moved in, so I thought it would be nice to send a little summer bouquet your way in the following photo to give hope that warmer days will be back (hopefully sooner than later.)  Enjoy!

Beauty tips of Audrey Hepburn

Below is a wonderful poem Audrey Hepburn wrote when asked to share her ‘beauty tips.’ 

It was read at her funeral years later. 

 For attractive lips, speak words of kindness. 

For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.

   For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.

For beautiful hair, let a child run his/her fingers through it once a day.

For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone.

People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone.

Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms.
